Exeter Stanza Launch: L to R Alisdair Paterson, Rachel McCarthy, Tony Frazer
In June, as well as our usual funky junk poetry night on the second Thursday of the month we also had Carrie Etter, a senior lecturer in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University, come read for us. Carrie's first collection The Tethers, is out from Seren, and her pamplet The Son, from Oystercatcher Press.
July 1st, ExCite is launching books from two locally-based poets: Damian Furniss will be launching his first full-length collection, Chocolate Che, and Alasdair Paterson his newest book, On the Governing of Empires, at the Devon and Exeter Institution, Cathedral Green, Exeter, 7.30pm, FREE ENTRY. More can be found about both authors here: www.shearsman.com
ExCite Poetry was featured in an article in Devon Life Magazine, which spawned a recording of an open mic poetry event at Otto Retro, our local haunt, which has been cleverly mixed with images of the antiques in the store: You can watch it here: www.youtube.com/user/ottoretro#p/a/u/1/eWnhEeCtpP0
Finally, the funding for Exeter's first ever poetry festival has been confirmed. Headlined by Alice Oswald and Andy Brown, with Jen Hadfield, Julia Copus, Greta Stodart and many, many more. October 7th -10th, to find out more see: http://exeterpoetryfestival.wordpress.com/
Enjoy a September holiday, then bring ideas and a poem or two with you on October 4.
